The "bear" necessities & more

Rescued from a cold La Paz street in the middle of the night last year with his brother José, Alberto is finally safe and taking his first tentative steps to a new life of health, happiness and confidence – where boys can be boys. With teddy bears.

Follow Alberto's route to recovery with the help of CFTC partner Alalay.

Hope for the Future

Two years ago, on January 12, 2010, a devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. The destruction was extensive, and while the children living at House of Hope orphanage were safe, the girls' dorm had to be demolished. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the new girls' dorm has now been completed, and little girls including this one, at right, are looking forward to moving back into their rooms! Check out the latest news on House of Hope.

A First Impression of Ghana

A First Impression of Ghana

CFTC's Program Manager for Ghana and Uganda, Mueni Udeozor, made her first trip to Ghana – one of the countries where CFTC is implementing Theory of Change – in December, 2011.

In our exclusive interview with her, she shares her impressions of the country, the people she met, and how our plans for health and nutritional projects developed jointly with local agencies in Ghana's impoverished northern regions are shaping up. Visit CFTC's Ghanaian photo journal on facebook.

Donor Spotlight

Thank you to all of our donors who gave in 2011 and helped provide health, education, nutrition and hope to children and their families around the world!

Thank you to CIBC Children's Foundation for supporting our Canadian Nutrition Program again this year. This will help feed thousands of children across Canada and address the issue of malnutrition and food insecurity within some of Canada's Aboriginal communities.

Thank you to The Fleming Foundation and The Ben & Hilda Katz Charitable Foundation for their support of the EDA water project in Ethiopia. This project will provide clean water for thousands of people living in a rural area of Ethiopia. With the support of these two foundations and many other dedicated donors, the community of Gelan Gura Kebele will soon have access to clean, safe water.
