HOLIDAY CELEBRATION BRIGHTENS HOUSE OF HOPE
It’s that time of year again when our partner, House of Hope, prepares for their annual Christmas Party in Gressier, Haiti. House of Hope, damaged in the January, 2010 earthquake, is home to children, some who have lost their parents as a direct result of the earthquake or for other reasons. Each year, staff at House of Hope put some of the funds that Canadian Feed The Children’s donors and Best.Gift.Ever contributors have provided towards a holiday party, with food, presents, songs and stories.
Last year, 100 children took part in the celebration on Christmas Day. Canadian Feed The Children’s Country Representative, Madsen Gachette, explains, “It is a day filled with children’s laughter as they play games and sing, and they love the food and drinks that are supplied as part of the celebration. Each child also receives a small gift as part of the celebration.” This year, the spirit of the season is bound to be even more important to children – and staff – in a country that continues to suffer so much.
