Bata Donor Appreciation Event 2010
We hosted a small affair at the Bata Shoe Museum June 8 to honour some very special people and award two generous organizations. CIBC & CIBC Children’s Foundation was named our 2009 Outstanding Corporate Partner and the Canadian Auto Workers union was named our 2009 Outstanding Community Partner. Our country representatives visiting from Bolivia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti and Uganda were on hand to meet supporters and describe our work first-hand. Charity among charities
Canadian Feed The Children is very happy to help out another registered charity, The Furniture Bank. The Toronto area-based organization recycles gently used household furnishings from individuals and corporate donors and provides them to groups that have been referred by registered community shelters and agencies. The Furniture Bank recently received a large donation of mattresses and didn’t have the room to store them. Our small warehouse was big enough to help them out for as long as they need. Check out their good work at http://www.furniturebank.org/

Action on Land Mines
Wilf Wilkinson and Jim DahlWilf Wilkinson (left), member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Landmine Foundation, met with Canadian Feed The Children Executive Director Jim Dahl in February to discuss possible ways to work together. The problem of landmines cannot be underestimated. There are between 45 and 50 million landmines in the ground in at least 70 countries that reportedly maim or kill 10,000 civilians every year. “Any organization involved in international development is painfully aware of the tragedies caused by landmines,” says Jim. “Canadian Feed The Children will help spread the word about the dangers of landmines in any way we can.” Sunday, April 4 is United Nations' Mine Awareness Day, sponsored by UN Mine Action Service. Haiti Urgent NeedThanks to our supporters who contributed so generously since the January 12 earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Funding needs for our Haiti emergency and rebuilding support have been met. Contributions to our From the Ground Up Campaign will help meet urgent needs in our other countries of support. Thank you!

In celebration of World Pasta Day, when you bought any Catelli product on October 24 or 25, Catelli donated 10 cents to Canadian Feed The Children. For all of you who entered the contest, they made another donation! Thank you, Catelli! (See article Toronto Sun Oct 21 - PDF)

Wayne Donaldson of Burlington, On., saw food prices rising around the world in 2008 and thought he'd do something about it. He got in touch with Canadian Feed The Children and started inspiring his colleagues in the electrical industry to help children through the Hungry for Change campaign. A year later, he and his generous colleagues have raised $200,000 for our child nutrition programs around the world. And Wayne's spirit of sharing has been recognized with a Canadian Living Me to We Award, which resulted in a $5000 gift to Canadian Feed The Children. Thank you, Wayne!
