Improving family livelihood
Our objective is to ensure the self-sufficiency of families and households and increase their ability to care for their children.
Vocational training, co-operatives, and small business start-up support prepares the way for parents to gain confidence and competence in earning a living so they can provide for their children and themselves. In rural communities where employment is scarce, it’s often this simple, targetted support that makes all the difference. We help families find creative and sustainable sources of livelihood in a variety of ways, including:
- Agricultural support (seeds, tools, livestock and training/standards on environmental protection)
- Small business development
- Business management skills
- Self-help groups
- Savings plans
Take a look at the photo gallery in each country we support, and you’ll see evidence of some of the ways we help children thrive by increasing access to livelihood.
