Canada Overview

Spanning 9.9 million square miles, Canada is the second largest country in the world, after Russia. Ninety per cent of Canadians live within 200 km of the border with the United States. Official languages are English and French.

Campaign 2000′s Report Card on Child Poverty in Canada reports that one in 10 children live in poverty in Canada today. It’s worse for children living in First Nations’ communities where one in four grow up in poverty.
