Our work in Ethiopia

A beautiful country of contrasts, Ethiopia has faced overwhelming challenges in its history, and its vibrant people have worked tirelessly to overcome them. Canadian Feed The Children has had a hand in improving lives in the country since 1991 through our work with grassroots organizations that are dedicated to the health and well-being of children.

  We work to repair and replace classroom furniture at Alternative Basic Education (ABE) centres, so children have a comfortable learning environment and schools can accommodate more students.

  Beo Degaga is a 10-year-old dedicated student who has a school notebook and desk thanks to our donors' support.

  These young children who attend the Woldia Non-formal Education (NFE) Centre quench their thirst with clean and cold water, thanks to a new well in their community.

  Eating a nutritious meal is all part of the service we provide at the Woldia NFE centre, keeping students healthy and alert.

  We help these eager students register in school and provide them with exercise books, pens, pencils, sharpeners and erasers.

  This women's credit and savings co-op teaches important business techniques that allow them to earn a living and improve their livelihoods.

  Educators at the Kilinto ABE Centre are provided with quarterly training sessions and workshops to help enhance their teaching skills.

  Members of the Chollo women's project weed their cabbage and carrot garden, which is funded with the support of our donors.

  These children help to tend sheep and goats near the village of Kilinto. Livestock dramatically improves the livelihood of their family.

  This little boy practices reading to the class out loud. With your support we provide the funds to cover his tuition, exercise books, pens and pencils.
