Community Partners
We have strong and effective partnerships with local organizations that share our goals, ethics and unwavering commitment to children. Here is a list of our current Ethiopian community partners and a snapshot of some of the work we do together.
Our Partner – Aberash’s Memorial Development Organization (AMDO)
Located in Oromiya National Regional State in the East Shoa Zone, AMDO works to implement integrated development initiatives, both in rural and urban contexts, in order to empower impoverished and marginalized groups, with a specific focus on children and women.
Our Programs with AMDO
We work with AMDO to construct Alternative Basic Education (ABE) Centres, giving more children the opportunity to go to school. We provide bi-annual training workshops for ABE educators, ensuring that teaching methods are delivered using the best methods to engage students. We carry out workshops about family planning, child care and nutrition for families living in the area, as well as provide livestock to single-parent families living in rural communities, which helps to create income for the family and improves their standard of living.
Our Partner – Emmanuel Development Association (EDA)
Our partner EDA is located in Akaki-Kality Sub-City in Addis Ababa and works to improve the socio-economic well-being of marginalized urban and rural communities by focusing on the areas of alternative basic education, community health, HIV/AIDS awareness, vocational training and income generation.
Our Programs with EDA
We work with EDA to create favourable learning environments for children enrolled in Alternative Basic Education (ABE) Centres by supplying them with needed school supplies and covering the cost of tuition. We conduct quarterly training sessions and workshops for ABE educators, resulting in a more impactful learning experience for the children. We also provide income-generating support for single parents, giving them the opportunity to improve their living conditions.
Our Partner – Organization for Child Development and Child Transformation (CHAD-ET)
Located in Woliso District, CHAD-ET works to create access to basic services for orphans and vulnerable children, and to promote the rights of the child.
Our Programs with CHAD-ET
In partnership with CHAD-ET we help to improve the lives of 600 orphans and vulnerable children by providing them with educational and medical support. Children are given the materials they need to succeed: a uniform, exercise books, pens and pencils. We cover their tuition costs and provide tutorial support to children who require it. We help to improve child health by providing soap, improving latrines in the area and covering the cost for medical attention.
Our Partner – Integrated Service for AIDS Prevention and Support Organization (ISAPSO)
ISAPSO is located in Chancho and Sululta towns and works to provide HIV/AIDS-related education and support, as well as family planning services, to communities throughout the country.
Our Programs with ISAPSO
We are working with ISAPSO to facilitate anti-retroviral therapy for parents and guardians living with HIV/AIDS. We also carry out awareness campaigns regarding preventative health, children’s rights, gender issues and HIV/AIDS prevention. We organize refresher leadership training for Self Help Group leaders. We also register sponsored children into school and supply them with uniforms, books, pencils and pens.
Our Partner – Mission for Community Development Program (MCDP)
Located in Kirkos Sub-City in Addis Ababa, MCDP works to bring long-lasting, integrated improvement in the lives of the disadvantaged members of the communities in which MCDP works, with a special focus on women and children.
Our Programs with MCDP
Our programs with MCDP strive to procure laboratory equipment and supplies for the MCDP health clinic, ensuring that children in the area receive the medical care they need. We supply multi-vitamins and nutritional supplements to children under the age of six and for sponsored children we cover the costs of school tuition and supply uniforms and school supplies.
