Country Overview

Ghana was one of the first countries in West Africa to attain independence from Britain, the ruling colonial power. Ghana’s economy has grown from foreign investments in recent years, but this has not benefited the most vulnerable population. High levels of poverty and unemployment still exist, and the disparity between the north of the country and the south remains significant.
