We’re the Duncan family of Burnaby, British Columbia. This summer, we’re walking to Hope to raise money for Haiti. With your help, we can make a difference!

We’re pooling our energies for a cause very close to our hearts. Taphatna and Camasiz, were born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and joined our family in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Their brother Leo works with organizations promoting outdoor recreation and environmental advocacy. Our mom, Deborah, volunteers with orphanages in Haiti, organizes shipments of medical and school supplies there, and organizes fundraisers and awareness activities in Canada. She’s a children’s librarian at Coquitlam Public Library.

From June 19-30, 2009, we’re walking 130 km from Coquitlam to Hope, British Columbia, to raise money and awareness for poor families in Haiti. Despite its great cultural riches, Haiti is the most economically impoverished country in the western hemisphere. Only 34% of children are immunized against preventable diseases. 45% of all children are undernourished or malnourished, and one in eight die before they reach the age of five. 71% of all people are unemployed. Many families are faced with little or no clean water, lack of access to food, no money for health care and medicines, and dangerous sanitation conditions.

You can help the Duncans reach their goal by donating now! Remember to add this line to the comments, "My donation is in support of "Walk for Haiti". Please feel free to include your comments/wishes for the Duncans and we will post them on their progress page.

All of us at Canadian Feed The Children thank The Duncan Family for helping to reduce the impact of poverty on children and for their great spirit of generosity.
